Today is the 93rd birthday of one of the greatest baseball players of all-time. Willie Mays joined the Birmingham Black Barons of the Negro American League in 1948 and made his major league career with the New York Giants in 1951. He played with the Giants through their move to San Francisco. He was traded to the New York Mets in 1972 and retired in 1973.

“The Say Hey Kid” was always my favorite player and I was lucky to see him play when I was young!
